English Language Arts 

Goal: Students reading on grade level by the end of 3rd Grade

Measurable Outcome:  

  • By Spring of the 2024-25 school year, 26% of students with disabilities will meet Reading Screener Benchmark.  
  • By Spring of 2024-25 school year, 41% of all students in grades PreK - 3 will meet Reading Screener Benchmark.

Strategy 1

Use embedded formative assessments in the new core curriculum to guide tier 1 and tier 2 instructional decisions.

Strategy 2

Increase opportunities for English Language Development through use of embedded strategies during whole group instruction and intentional small group instruction focused on specific student needs.

Strategy 3

Increase use of data to plan instruction and monitor progress during intervention to ensure that students demonstrating risk master foundational skills.

 

Mathematics 

Goal: Growth and performance on state/national/international assessments in math.

Measurable Outcome: 

  • By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, students within the black subgroup will achieve an adjusted pass rate of 70% or higher on the 
    end of year mathematics Standards of Learning (SOL) assessment by passing outright or showing growth. 
  • By June 2025, the unadjusted EOY mathematics SOL pass rate for all students grade 3 - 6 will improve from 44% to 50%.

Strategy 1

Increase teachers' content knowledge and implementation of the 2023 FCPS mathematics program of studies.

Strategy 2

Improve teachers’ implementation of Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.

Strategy 3

Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention.

 

Chronic Absenteeism

Goal: Student attendance and absenteeism rates.

Measurable Outcome: 

  • By the end of the 2024-25 school year, we will reduce our school’s chronic absenteeism rate from 16.3% (without the use of flexible instruction) last year to 14% as evidenced by our school’s chronic absenteeism data.

Strategy 1

Schools will implement practices to recognize good and improved attendance to reinforce attendance and strengthen student and family engagement.

Strategy 2

Teachers will use a variety of culturally-responsive practices and communication methods to provide supportive outreach to students and families when student attendance concerns arise.

Strategy 3

Schools will share multilingual attendance materials with families throughout the year to educate families regarding the importance of attendance for school success.
